First Thessalonians Chapter 5

CHAPTER 5

Lord keep me from trying to work out when You are returning – I have more than enough to do in preparation for Your return – especially as I know that Your day comes like a thief in the night.

They will all be saying “Peace & safety” when suddenly destruction will be upon them, just like the birth process comes upon pregnant women, & there will be no escape.

Lord may I & my fellow believers not be in darkness, so that Your day would overtake us, like a thief.

Help us & strengthen us to be children of God’s light, sons of the day & not of the night or of darkness.

So help us not to prepare ourselves for sleep, like those who will remain behind, but to be awake & watching, alert.

Help us not to be asleep or drunk – not aware of what is going on around us & out of control of our senses & actions.

Lord help us, we who are of the day, to be awake, alert & vigilant, help us to put on like a chain mall coat, the divinely implanted gift of faith & Your love; To put on our helmet, the hope of our salvation received.

Thank You God, that You have not appointed humans to meet with Your wrath, but rather to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ

Thank You for Jesus who died for us, that whether we are alive & watching, or if our mortal bodies are dead, we should live together with Jesus.

God, in light of these wonderful facts, help me to appeal & comfort others, to edify others with this good news.

Help me Lord, to understand & recognise those who labour among us, who have authority in You, over us & who admonish us. That I would esteem them very highly in love on account of their work. Help us to be at peace among one another.

Lord, in Your ability may we: warn those that are disorderly, unruly; exhort & comfort the faint hearted; support the weak; be patient with all people.

May I never even consider bad or hurtful things, revenge, toward any other person, regardless that they may have done bad, hurtful & depraved things to me.

Instead Lord, help me, strengthen me to always do what is good, good for me & good for others.

It all boils down to letting You live out Your life, Your thoughts, Your words, Your actions & reactions, through me Lord Jesus.

If You do this Lord, I will rejoice for ever & ever. I pray without ceasing that You would do this Lord Jesus.
When You are doing these things Lord Jesus, I will thank You for everything, even the ‘bad things’ that happen to me, for they are opportunities for You to work & shine Your light through me & surely that is what God wants from me, to let You work & shine through me!

May I never do anything that would hinder the Spirit from bestowing spiritual gifts on me.

Let me never treat those spiritual gifts with contempt.

Help me to test & prove all things & help me to hold onto & retain those things which are good.

Strengthen & help me not to have any sort of involvement or association with evil, evil intent, mischief working or even grudges.

May You, the God of peace sanctify me wholly, honour me as set apart for You.

Keep my spirit, my soul, my body entire, without blame at the coming of my Lord Jesus Christ.

You who have called me are faithful, sure & true & I know that I can rely on You to do all this.

Remind me to lift up fellow believers to You in prayer Lord.

May I always preach all Your word Lord.

Let my greeting of fellow believers be with Your love & decentness.

My Lord, Jesus Christ, may Your grace accompany me , always.

First Thessalonians Chapter 4

CHAPTER 4

Lord, I have more than just ideas on how You want me to live so as to please You, I have had so much teaching & I also have access to huge quantities of teaching materials & of course, Your word, the Lord Jesus & Your written word.

So, by Your strength & Holy Spirit in me, let me get on with it, putting everything I know & have been taught, into practice on a regular & consistent basis.

Lord, Your will is quite plain; You want us holy & sanctified. To this end Lord I pray & commit myself to:
Abstain from fornication & sexual immorality – both in thought & deed.

Help me to stand firm in this Lord, to be holy with honour & integrity.
To abstain & renounce lust & passions which, if they occupy my thoughts, are really a rejection of You God & all You have done for me, & thus I am no different to a non-believer.

Lord may I never do this, or even think of it, not with the wife, daughter or sister of any brother, in fact with no other woman at all.

God help me to be holy, to live, think, speak & act holy.

May I never reject this, for in so doing, I am not rejecting men, I am rejecting You God, You who also gave us the giver of gifts, the Holy Spirit, Your Holy Spirit.

God, You have taught me to love others & I thank You for that, but I also ask that You help me to do this more & more, let the love that You have for people flow through me God.

And help me Lord to make an earnest endeavor to lead & live a restful & quiet life, to attend to my own affairs, to work with my own hands to provide my needs, so that I would have integrity, be decent & honest toward all, including outsiders & so that I would lack nothing.

Lord thank You that I know where my fellow believers are, those who have died on earth.

Thank You that I do not have sorrow or no hope regarding this.

Lord I believe that Jesus died & rose again & I believe that those who have died in Jesus, when Jesus returns, God You will bring them with Him.

Lord, I believe & rejoice in Your word that tells me that if I am still alive when You return, I shall not meet You before You meet those who have died.

For You shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the Archangel & with the trumpet call of God & the dead in Christ shall rise first.
Then we who are alive & remain, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet You Lord Jesus in the air; & then we shall always be with You Lord Jesus.

May I comfort others with these words Lord.

First Thessalonians Chapter 3

CHAPTER 3

Lord may I be a brother, an active servant of God, a fellow labourer in the Gospel of Christ, willing to go & help to establish, exhort & comfort others as regards their divinely implanted principle of faith.

May I never be moved from my faith by the afflictions of others; we all have our cross to bear & we have been forewarned.
Protect me in temptation Lord. May others receive good tidings of my faith & unconditional love – to Your glory Lord!

Help me to retain good memories of others.
May I always respond well, when meeting fellow believers.
Lord, through my faith, may I bring comfort to others in affliction & distress.

Help me to stand fast in You Lord, so that I can have full life – life in all it’s manifestations & activity, the life from God.

God, how can I ever thank You for my brethren, such joy that they fill me with as I rejoice in Your presence God.

Lord I pray, I come before You & ask that You give me the ability to mend or adjust whatever is needed in my fellow believers lives of faith.

You, God our Father & our Lord Jesus Christ, make this possible, make it happen. Lord, as You work in & through me; making the right adjustments to my life, make my love toward all people increase & abound.
Make this part of the process You have begun in my life Lord; to make my heart steadfast in holiness before God my Father, when You, my Lord Jesus Christ come again, with all of Your saints.

First Thessalonians 2

CHAPTER 2

Lord, no matter who You put in front of me, may it never be in vain: even if I suffer or am shamefully treated, help me to speak without reservation as I remain in You God, that I would proclaim the good news of God, my Father, even if it starts conflict.

May I never use deceit, never have impure motives or use cunning tricks when instructing people.

I pray for Your approval God, commit Your good news to me & keep me from speaking only to please men – when I speak, may it please You my Father & may my heart motives also please You.

May I never use flattery at any time, nor any pretense, may I never use Your word to achieve my selfish ends – my Father, please keep a check on me with these things.

Let me never seek praise or glory from any man.

Let me never be a heavy load, misusing my spiritual authority to manipulate others into supplying my needs.

Let me rather be gentle to all, like a mother with her own children, loving & cherishing, protecting & caring, providing & supplying their every need.

Lord, give me Your love for people, so that I would do anything for them, not just a case of “I can give you God’s good news, the Gospel.” but that I would be willing to give all of me, like You did.

Make people beloved to me.

Strengthen me so that, if need be, I would labour day & night for people.

May I never be a burden to anyone during my preaching the Gospel to them.

Lord watch me & enable me to live a holy, just, well behaved & blameless life, not just in front of other people, but all the time.

Give me words & ability to exhort, comfort as a father would his children, that I could assist them, & me, to walk worthy of You God, for You have called us to Your kingdom & glory.

Father God, how I thank You for Your word, that I could receive it.

Thank You that it is not man’s word, but Yours God.

Thank You that it works effectively in me, as I believe.

Help me in my belief.

Help us all to be correct followers Lord.

Help us if we do face suffering & opposition & persecution of all & any sort.

Help us in all circumstances to please You God, not men, & to continue to speak to unbelievers, that they may be saved.

Lord, those brethren that we can not get to see, for whatever reason, may we have them in our hearts. May we make a concerted effort to get to see them.

Keep satan from hindering us Lord.

May I be the hope, the joy, the crown of rejoicing for those who have led & taught me, when You come Lord Jesus Christ, & we are all in Your presence.

May others be my glory & joy.

First Thessalonians Chapter One

CHAPTER 1

Thank You Lord that I am part of the church which is in God the Father & in the Lord Jesus Christ.

I pray that You, God my Father & the Lord Jesus Christ would give me grace & peace.

God I thank You for my fellow believers, & I want to make mention of them in my prayers.

Help us to always continue our work of faith & labour of love & patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in Your sight, God our Father.

Thank You Lord for our election of God.

May Your Gospel, which I am privileged to preach, be received not in word only but also in the dynamic power & action of the Holy Ghost & in much assurance.

Help me to set the right example, for the sake of those I work with, that they may mimic & imitate me, but more so You Lord.

That they may receive the word, even if they are afflicted because of it, with joy, a gift of the Holy Spirit; so they would be a type, a pattern for all other believers.

May Your working in me, Your word echo out all over; that the divinely implanted faith toward God, that I have been given, would go forth, far & wide. That there would be no need for a report or book to be written on it, for it would be common knowledge that I serve the living, real, substantial, genuine & true God, not fictitious or symbolic idols.

Help me to keep my eyes on Your Son, whom You raised from the dead, to wait for Him from heaven: Jesus our Saviour, who has delivered me from the wrath to come.
